Ritchey Roo, also known as Richard, is an exuberant, jubilant, and yet laid-back guy who was made to be man's best friend. He is all about humans and not so much into other dogs. Ritchey loves people and enjoys lounging around inside and out. He craves affection and primarily wants to be with you, hanging out in your presence. This happy boy is not shy about his love and would be a great addition to a home, ideally with a fenced yard. Ritchey is house-trained and is comfortable being left alone.
While Ritchey can be a quiet couch potato, he can also be consistently energetic and jubilant. When you grab his leash or walk through the door, he goes from zero to ten almost instantly. He can be the gentlest of souls, but also a bit boisterous, relentlessly invading personal space with his jumping and excitement, especially when food or a leash is involved. Ritchey can also be vocal, showing his hound heritage, but he only speaks when he has something to say, and it's often quite humorous.
Ritchey is estimated to be about 5-6 years old and currently weighs 90 lbs. He arrived underweight, and we may have overcompensated in getting meat back on his bones, so he could stand to go on a diet and/or increase his physical activity! He loves sleeping in bed with his human and has even learned the command "OVER" to politely ask for a bit more space. Ritchey does not seem interested in toys or playing fetch but enjoys car rides and walks, though he requires serious leash training as he is a strong puller. Ultimately, Ritchey would be content lounging around the house and running in the yard. He enjoys your company but isn't a "velcro dog" and can be sufficiently independent. He has done well in foster care and various boarding facilities, where he's a favorite due to being easy to care for and good company.
Ideal Home
We would like Ritchey to be the only spoiled pup in the home.
Ongoing Health
Ritchey could benefit from a diet and increased physical activity.
Training & Support
Ritchey needs serious leash training as he is a hard puller. He can be jumpy and boisterous when excited, especially around food or leashes.
