KIRA

Kira is a delightful Shepherd mix, just over 1.5 years old and weighing around 50 lbs. She's a bundle of sweetness and is sure to be a cherished member of her new family. Kira's previous owner had to make the tough decision to part with her because she had a bit too much freedom and found the neighborhood chickens irresistible! We like to think she was just trying to make new friends. Despite her brief foray into fowl social activities, Kira is a true love bug. She adores people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and has even lived with children. Her affectionate nature is infectious, and she has a playful, goofy, and cuddly personality that will bring smiles to everyone she meets. Kira is the perfect companion for adventure-seekers and couch potatoes alike, ready to explore the world with you and then snuggle up at night. She truly embodies the spirit of a dog who has been waiting her whole life for her forever home.

Ideal Home

Kira would thrive in a home that can provide her with guidance and supervision, especially around small animals, given her past interest in chickens.

Ongoing Health

Kira is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She has received initial deworming and flea/tick prevention while in our care. A veterinarian consultation shortly after adoption is recommended to discuss any potential future needs, including heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Kira's primary training need is to understand boundaries regarding small animals. Otherwise, she is a well-behaved and affectionate companion.

• You must be a resident of Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine, and be at least 21 years old.
• All household members must be aware of and involved in the adoption.
• Any current dogs in the home must complete an onsite meet and greet.
• Current pets must be up to date on veterinary care and spayed or neutered.
• Proof of homeownership or landlord approval is required.
• If you currently have pets, please provide up-to-date veterinary records.

Transportation

Kira is located in Rhode Island and transport may be available to approved adopters within our service area. Please inquire for more details.
