Hi there! My name is Darren, but my foster mom calls me Dixon. I'm a handsome Lab Retriever Mix, about 55lbs, and my estimated birthday is 11/25/2024. I had a bit of a rough start, but thanks to some wonderful people and my amazing foster mom, I'm getting a second chance at a happy life. When I first arrived, I was a little shy and scared, but my foster mom gave me all the time and space I needed. Now, I've settled in wonderfully! I love playing with the younger dog here, and the older dog tolerates my enthusiasm. The kids are my best buddies, and I'm still working on becoming best friends with the cat – I'm hopeful! I'm a smart boy, too – I know "sit" and "shake," and I have a special trick called "Pray" that melts hearts. I love nudging my foster mom for attention; it's the best! My skin is still healing, and I get medicated baths, but my foster mom says I'm a "little werewolf" and gives the best massages, so I can't stay mad at her. My kennel is my safe space, and I happily go in for treats and praise.

I'm looking for a family to cherish me forever. A home with another playful dog to romp with would be the icing on the cake!

I'm currently undergoing treatment for my skin, which includes medicated baths to help my fur grow back.

Transporation
I'm located in Houston, TX, and transport is included in the adoption fee. Pickup locations for transported dogs may vary, including to nearby towns or states. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third-party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
