Meet Simon, a wonderful German Shepherd mix with a heart of gold! Simon is a laid-back boy who absolutely loves to lounge on the couch and soak up all the pets. He's a loyal companion who wants to be with his people, making him a perfect fit for a home where someone works from home, a family that's around often, or a retired individual.

Ideal Home

Simon thrives in a home where he can be close to his family. He's potty-trained but does not do well in a crate, so a home environment where he doesn't need to be crated is ideal. He is good with other dogs, but he prefers to keep his food to himself. While he has been good with children as young as 8, he can be a bit boisterous and might accidentally knock over younger children, so we recommend a home without very young kids.

Ongoing Health

Simon has been treated for heartworm. He will need to avoid long walks or strenuous hikes for approximately 6-8 months following his treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations and has been spayed/neutered.

Training & Support

Simon isn't a fan of having his collar grabbed, and it makes him nervous, though he is slowly improving with this. Gentle handling and positive reinforcement will go a long way in building his confidence. He enjoys chewing on toys and is not particularly driven by prey, showing no interest in chickens or goats.
