Cleo is a sweet 4-year-old female Labrador mix, weighing around 30 lbs. She was rescued in November 2023 in Saltillo, Mexico, after being hit by a car and sustaining a leg fracture. While she walks a little crooked, she has no special needs and is a testament to her resilient spirit. Cleo is described as loyal, grateful, shy, loving, calm, and happy to be alive. She's also well-behaved and enjoys car rides, walks on a leash, and is crate trained.
Ideal Home
Cleo would thrive in a home that is willing to give a rescued pet at least three months to show their true personality. An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking would be a great fit. She would do best in a home with a fenced backyard. Families with an understanding of street animal rescue, their need for protection and education, and experience in dog behavior and training are preferred. Cleo will need a patient and tolerant family, especially since she is not yet house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Cleo's leg healed well after her fracture, and while she walks a bit crooked, she doesn't require special care. She is spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and tested negative for 4DX and heartworm. She receives monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Nexgard Spectra).
Training & Support
Cleo is not house-trained. The rescue team is dedicated to the health and emotional rehabilitation of their animals but is unable to house-train every pet due to the sheer number of animals in foster care. Patience and consistency will be key for her house-training journey. She is leash and crate trained and good in the car.

- A virtual meet-and-greet will be arranged to introduce you to Cleo and for us to visually assess your home and family.
- If deemed a good fit, an adoption contract will be provided, including a trial adoption period with clear instructions for integration.
Transportation
Cleo is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast of the United States on a cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is available to the adopter's home address. The transport fee of $400.00 will be paid by the adopter prior to the pet's departure.
