Handsome Adak, pronounced "ay-dack," was named after an island in Alaska. Adak was a stray at a shelter that no one claimed. He is a happy boy who loves attention from his people and will come over just to be petted. If you sit or lie down on the floor, he will be right next to you. Adak is a little reserved when first meeting a new person, but once you're in his pack, he will be your best friend. He is a smart boy who knows some basic commands, which may have something to do with being very treat motivated. Adak is an energetic boy who requires 1-2 daily walks and enjoys patrolling the backyard at his foster home. He also takes time out for a good nap. He enjoys the companionship of other dogs and would be very happy to have a female playmate in his furever home that matches his energy. He does fine with dog-friendly cats. Adak is crate trained and rides great in the car. He walks pretty well on a leash until he sees something he wants to go see, and then he pulls some in excitement. We think Adak is a Maremma Sheepdog, a livestock guardian breed similar to a Great Pyrenees. At 1.5 years old, he weighs about 80 lbs.
