Hi, my name is Maddie Fortune! I'm a beautiful six-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler and I weigh about 52 pounds. My world changed when my owner had to move into a nursing care facility. My best friend, Freckles, and I lost the only home we had ever known, but thankfully a wonderful rescue stepped in to help us find the loving forever homes we deserve. I'm a sweet, gentle girl with a calm nature. Since coming into rescue, I've learned how to walk on a leash – something I never needed before because I had a large fenced yard where I could run and explore. I enjoy going on walks and spending time with my people, but I prefer quieter environments over busy, hectic ones. I'm still building my confidence with new experiences, so I'll do best in a home with a securely fenced yard while I settle in. With a little patience and encouragement, my confidence continues to grow every day. I get along well with other dogs, I'm calm and well-mannered in the house, and I'm not much of a barker. I've also spent time around my family's grandchildren and did very well. I haven't been around cats, so I'm hoping for a home without feline roommates. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will quietly steal your heart, I just might be the perfect match.
Ideal Home
A home with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for Maddie to settle in and build her confidence. An apartment or condo without a yard is not the right fit for her.
Ongoing Health
Maddie is house trained, crate trained, heartworm negative, and currently on heartworm prevention. She is also spayed, microchipped, healthy, and up to date on all of her vaccinations.
Training & Support
Maddie is learning to walk on a leash and prefers quieter environments. Patience and encouragement will help her continue to build confidence.
