Gunnar

Gunnar is a handsome 1-year-old mixed breed weighing in at 54 lbs. He came to us as a stray, initially quite fearful, but Animal Control Officer Becky showed him kindness and patience, and he quickly warmed up to her and is now looking for his forever friend. Gunnar was found with a unique harness, suggesting he once had a loving home, and he truly dislikes being alone at the shelter. He cries out for attention and would thrive with an adopter who wants a devoted companion by their side. Gunnar has been with us since February 2025 and has practically grown up here; he's a sweet boy who deserves a chance to experience a loving home of his own. He's heartworm tested and negative!

Ongoing Health

Gunnar is heartworm negative. As a municipal shelter, Malden Animal Control does not have a budget for extensive vetting. Adopters are required to prepay for a rabies vaccination before adoption. Alteration must be completed within 30 days of adoption, and veterinary records will be required to confirm.

Training & Support

Gunnar dislikes solitude and cries for attention, indicating he needs reassurance and a consistent routine in his new home.
