Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix who weighs about 55 pounds. She’s a gentle, easygoing sweetheart who’s ready to bring calm, love, and quiet joy into your home. Mavis was found at an elementary school and a kind teacher began feeding her. After months of effort, a group of people came together to help Mavis find a rescue and foster home, where she has been thriving!
Ideal Home
Mavis is happy to join you for daily walks and then relax by your side. She loves other dogs and thrives in social environments, getting along beautifully with dogs of all sizes. She walks politely on leash and is easily redirected. Mavis may startle if approached suddenly from behind, so a calm, predictable environment would help her feel her best. She is not a fan of sewer grates or drainage holes, but will politely avoid them. A home without cats would likely be the best fit for Mavis.

Training & Support
Mavis is fully house-trained, does well in a crate, and has great manners when left alone. She is not destructive and coexists peacefully with other dogs. She doesn’t show any food aggression. Mavis is smart, knows how to sit, and is eager to learn more. She’s not particularly interested in toys yet but enjoys treats.

- Transport runs every few weeks, and approved dogs will be on the next available transport. If you cannot accept a dog until a specific time, please apply at that time.

- We require a virtual home visit, personal, and vet reference checks to complete the process.
Transporation
Mavis is currently located in Houston, Texas, and is able to transport once an adopter is matched. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
