Meet Raya!
Raya's story is one we'll never forget. She once stood guard over her sibling who had been struck and killed on the side of a busy highway, refusing to leave until a volunteer could safely bring her to safety. That day marked the beginning of Raya's new life.
Today, she's a happy, resilient young girl who has left much of her past behind. Raya is playful, goofy, athletic, and absolutely hilarious. When she gets the zoomies, she hops like a little deer, bouncing across the yard in a way that's guaranteed to make you laugh. She loves adventures and is always ready for walks, car rides, hiking, and exploring. She'd probably walk for miles before willingly turning back toward home! A fenced-in yard is a must for this girl, as it's where she loves to have most of her adventures.
Once the adventure is over, Raya's favorite job is being as close to you as physically possible. She wants to be in your lap, curled up beside you on the couch, and slowly take over your bed one inch at a time. She's looking for a family that truly wants their dog to be a part of everyday life, and we're looking for adopters who are excited to give her exactly that.
Ideal Home
Raya needs a home with a securely fenced yard for her adventures. She thrives on being close to her people and is not a dog who does well being left alone for long periods. A home without cats is essential, as they are just too exciting for her. She would likely do best as an only dog, especially for out-of-state adopters, as she needs slow, positive introductions with new people and other dogs.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped.
Training & Support
Raya experiences some separation anxiety and uses a crate when needed to help manage it and prevent mischief. She will likely need continued positive reinforcement for introductions to new people and dogs. She is not the right match for a home where people are gone for 8-10 hours most days with little time together.

Transporation
Raya is currently located in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out-of-town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. Transport to the city on this listing is included in the adoption fee and runs every 2-3 weeks. We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.
