About Groot

Groot is the Head of the Welcome Committee and your Self-Appointed Assistant Manager! This 45-pound, long-legged goober has a personality that's equal parts backyard explorer, quality control specialist, and morale officer. Groot walks through life as if he's been promoted to a position he created himself, always ready to "help" with whatever you're doing, from making breakfast to supervising trash disposal. He's a dog who has somehow convinced himself his job is to be involved in everything, and his performance reviews are outstanding!

You'll first notice his enormous ears, which seem to pick up every sound from miles around. He often listens intently to things happening far away before slowly turning to you with a look that says, "Don't worry, I've got this handled." Outside is Groot's favorite office. He loves to run, explore, sniff every inch of the yard, and ensure neighborhood regulations are being followed by the squirrels. He can be found staring intently into the woods like he's solving a major investigation, only to be immediately distracted by the sight of another dog having zoomies.

Groot absolutely adores other dogs and truly blossoms with canine companionship. Meeting another dog is like an instant best friend reunion, filled with excitement and plans for afternoon fun. We'd love to see him in a home with another playful dog who can be his buddy for wrestling, exploring, and cuddling after a long day.

Despite his important job, Groot has impeccable manners. He is fully house-trained and crate-trained, and already knows commands like sit, lay down, give paw, "go eat," "go outside," and "go for a walk." He's a quick learner who thrives on praise and genuinely wants to make his people proud. He has a sweet way of bringing you his toys, gently placing them in your lap as if delivering important paperwork, not for any reward, but just because he thought you should have it. Groot is sweet without being clingy, playful without being chaotic, and funny without even trying. He’s the kind of dog that quietly changes your everyday life until you can't imagine how you ever lived without him.
