Meet Santana!
Santana is a spirited five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier with a beautiful blue fawn coat and bright, expressive eyes. He's a loving boy who truly shines around people, always ready with adorable "happy foot taps" and an abundance of kisses! Weighing in at about 65 pounds, Santana has a medium energy level, enjoying playful bursts of activity followed by sweet, cozy companionship. His favorite game involves a small rubber tire, which he chases with gleeful leaps and bounds. Santana knows basic commands like "sit" and "stay," comes when called, and loves car rides, making him an eager co-pilot for any adventure. He's also crate-trained and finds comfort in his crate when left alone, as he can get into mischief with food if unsupervised.
Ideal Home
Santana would thrive in a home where he is the only dog. While he can be selective with some female dogs with proper introductions, he has had ongoing altercations with other dogs, especially males, and needs to be the sole canine companion. He is wonderful with people, affectionate, social, and gentle with both adults and children. Due to his natural prey drive, a home without small animals is also recommended. A fenced yard will be essential for safe and active playtime.
Ongoing Health
Santana is vaccinated and microchipped and handles vet visits well. He does need to have a broken upper canine tooth extracted and a small mole above his eye evaluated by a veterinarian.
Training & Support
Santana can become destructive and curious with food if given too much freedom when unsupervised, especially if snacks are within reach, so his crate is his safe space. He communicates his discomfort with clear body language and benefits from positive reinforcement training to build calm, confident interactions. His adoption will require that he be neutered by his new family, and we can provide guidance and resources to support this.
