About Hop
Hop burst through the front door like he’s late for a game show! This 16 lb scruffy rocket was once spotted literally hopping through traffic trying to survive. Now he’s discovered toys, freedom, couches, people, yards, snacks, and attention… and frankly he thinks ALL OF IT is AMAZING. We suspect some Bichon mix in there somewhere, but honestly? Hop identifies primarily as: Professional Fetch Athlete, Backyard Soccer Specialist, DARTER HENCE REQUIRED FENCE, and Full-Time Fun Coordinator. He’s around 2 years old and has the energy of a dog making up for lost time. And lost time he had. Hop appears to have spent much of his previous life crated. When he arrived, his white fur was stained dark yellow from sitting in urine for long periods. Because of that neglect, some of the “normal dog life” things are still new to him: house training consistency, leash manners, appropriate play levels, and understanding that other dogs may not want to WWE wrestle at all times. But here’s the thing: Hop is TRYING. He wants so badly to be good. He wants engagement. He wants interaction. He wants life. And with structure and consistency? He keeps improving. He crates fairly well now, holds it overnight, is food motivated and trainable, learning “sit” and routines quickly, loves other dogs, is very people social, and is hilariously expressive and entertaining. He’s still mouthy in that delayed-puppy kind of way and can accidentally body slam his canine friends in excitement, so we think very small children probably aren’t ideal. He’s best described as “sweet chaos in a scruffy little body.” Hop needs an active home, continued training, humans with patience and humor, and ideally a fenced yard to safely launch himself around in. And grooming! That soft white coat will need regular upkeep now that he’s living his upgraded life. His foster said it best: “His enthusiasm is so special. He’ll drive you crazy, but it’s all puppy heart.” Honestly? That sums him up perfectly.
Ideal Home
Hop needs an active home with humans who have patience and humor. An ideally fenced yard is needed so he can safely launch himself around. Very small children are probably not ideal for Hop.
Ongoing Health
Hop's fur was stained yellow from urine due to past neglect, but he appears to be otherwise healthy. His soft white coat will require regular grooming.
Training & Support
Hop is still learning house training consistency, leash manners, appropriate play levels, and how to interact with other dogs. He is very food motivated and is learning quickly. He is still a bit mouthy and can accidentally body slam other dogs in excitement.
