About Penny

Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix who is as bright and loving as her name suggests! Penny has a big heart and is ready to share it with her forever family. She's a curious, social girl who thrives on adventure and cuddles, embodying the best of her intelligent and energetic breeds.

Ideal Home

Penny would do best in an active home with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can help her learn proper play etiquette. Given her exuberance and herding instincts, a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can channel her energy positively would be ideal. She is also recommended to be in a cat-free home due to past prey-driven behavior outdoors. She needs a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding as she continues to blossom.

Ongoing Health

Penny is a healthy, spayed female.

Training & Support

Penny is fully house-trained and can be left in a designated area when home alone, though she is still learning to be fully comfortable with separation and may whine or bark due to her deep bond with her people. She has not been crate trained and prefers to be close to her humans. She is also still learning to be fully comfortable with separation. While she can be trusted loose in the house with supervision, she does have a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored. Penny is protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, but this is manageable with clear boundaries and respectful management. She flinches easily and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care due to past trauma.
