George and Piper are a bonded pair, a three-year-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix and a two-year-old Pharaoh Hound/American Pitbull Terrier mix, respectively. George is a gentle giant with a quiet strength, weighing 112 pounds, and Piper is a joyful, energetic companion at 31 pounds. They were both rescued from difficult pasts and have found comfort and companionship in each other. George is a loyal, intelligent dog who thrives on routine and gentle guidance, slowly building trust with his people. Piper is a social butterfly, full of life, affection, and playful energy. Together, they offer a beautiful balance of calm and joy, and their bond is a testament to their resilience and capacity for love.
Ideal Home
George and Piper would thrive in a calm, structured environment with ample space for George to roam and feel secure. George is not suited for apartments or small condos. Due to George's past trauma and sensitivity to quick movements and head pats, his ideal guardian will understand that trust is built over time and will provide him with space to feel safe before initiating close physical contact. Piper is good with children and other dogs but may need slow introductions to cats or small animals. She also appreciates a cozy retreat during loud noises like fireworks or thunder.
Ongoing Health
George and Piper are healthy and have been well-cared for in their foster home.
Training & Support
George is house-trained, leash-savvy, and knows commands such as sit, down, shake, easy, and stay. Piper is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows sit, down, and stay. George had one fear-based bite incident and one instance of snapping without contact, both attributed to him feeling overwhelmed or threatened by unfamiliar people approaching him too quickly in new environments. A professional trainer evaluated George and confirmed he is not aggressive but is a sensitive dog who reacts in ways consistent with his background. His trainers are kindly offering to provide video or phone consultations to support his future family. Piper is sensitive to loud sounds and will appreciate a quiet space during such times.
