About Joy FH

Meet Joy! This sweet girl, along with her companion Sky, came to us from a partnering rescue in Puerto Rico. These two were found living on their own on the streets, so their past experiences are a mystery. They spent a short time in a foster home in PR before flying to Florida. Because being cared for by humans is still new to Joy, she can be nervous when meeting new people or in unfamiliar situations. She'll need a patient owner to help her feel safe and loved.

We believe Joy would do wonderfully in a home with another confident dog who can show her the ropes and help her understand what it's like to be part of a family. She seems more outgoing when she has her sister or another friendly pup to play with. Joy is more comfortable around women than men and seems to like children, though she doesn't respond well to loud noises like screaming and yelling.

Ideal Home

Joy would do best in a home with at least one other confident, friendly dog. She is more comfortable around women and may do well with children who are not prone to loud noises.

Ongoing Health

Joy is a healthy puppy.

Training & Support

Joy is partially house-trained and does well in a crate. She is currently attending puppy training classes to learn basic skills. She can be startled by loud noises and is still cautious around new people, but she is learning to trust and starting to enjoy cuddles. Continued patience and positive reinforcement will be key to helping her blossom. Walks can be a bit nerve-wracking for her, especially without another dog nearby, so encouragement and training will be beneficial.
