About Buddy

Buddy is a perfectly happy furry friend, but his story will always break our hearts. Buddy was adopted from ACS shelter in San Antonio by someone who said they would give him a loving home. A few months later he was found by animal control living on the streets. He had lost about 20 lbs and was emaciated. His body was covered in bites. His rear leg, that was perfect before he had been adopted, was now bothering him. His spirit, however, was barely bruised. His strength to keep going touched our hearts. We took him under our wing and he stayed with our veterinarian for several weeks. With the help of a team of skilled professionals, he gained weight back and healed all of his wounds. Although we are SO lucky that his leg healed on its own, he did need to have one of his toes amputated. But, hey, he's got plenty more! Buddy moves around normally now on all four legs like nothing bothers him. He likes other dogs and he is affectionate with people as well. To think that the people who adopted him failed him so badly, yet he still trusts humans, is remarkable. He's still in San Antonio but he needs to move north where his chances of adoption are WAY higher. Buddy is a German shepherd, around 3 years old. 50 Lbs.
