Fernando Silverio is a sweet little soul with the charm of a tiny grumpy old man and the heart of a true gentleman. He is a male Border Terrier Mix, approximately 4 years old and weighs 13.4 lbs. Fernando is calm and well-mannered, perfectly suited for a relaxed home where he can enjoy peaceful moments and gentle routines. He is social and does well with other dogs, children, men, and women. Fernando is friendly but shy at first, especially when receiving affection. Once he feels safe, his personality shines through with his adorable, serious little face that makes everyone smile. Because of his age, he is naturally calm and laid-back, preferring quiet companionship over chaos. He enjoys being around other dogs and coexisting peacefully, making him a great fit for a home looking for a gentle, low-energy companion. Fernando may look like a grumpy old soul, but his sweet gaze and quiet presence make him incredibly endearing. He is waiting patiently for a loving home that will understand his shyness and give him the time he needs to trust.

Ideal Home

Fernando would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open conscience about the needs of street animals, and a willingness to provide protection and education. An ideal home will also have experience with dog behavior and training or be willing to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Please understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences and may need time to adapt to new environments.

Training & Support

Fernando is not house-trained. Please understand that for rescued pets, the focus is on rehabilitating their health and emotions, and it is not always possible to house-train each one. Patience and understanding are crucial when dealing with rescued dogs, as they may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and setting clear boundaries will help him feel secure and build trust.

Application Details:

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• You will need to fill out an adoption form and send photos/videos of your home to ensure a safe environment for your future furry friend.
• If it's a match, we will contact you for a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 12 of your references.
• If approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which covers veterinary care, vaccinations, microchipping, food, and more.

Transportation

Fernando is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast on scheduled cross-country trips. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Our transport process includes scheduled trips with a partner company, comprehensive paperwork including a Health Certificate from the USDA, and real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home and conduct a final home review.
