Meet Pola, a truly extraordinary German Shepherd with a heart as beautiful as his spirit.
Pola's journey begins in Azerbaijan, where stray and abandoned animals often face unimaginable hardships. Despite the challenges he has endured, Pola has remained gentle, trusting, and full of love. Now, this special boy is searching for the forever family he has always deserved!
Pola is blind, but don't let that fool you—he is incredibly intelligent and adapts remarkably well to his surroundings. Once he learns an environment, he navigates it with confidence. The shelter staff who know him best describe him as calm, curious, playful, and exceptionally kind. More than anything, Pola longs for a family to call his own.
"Pola is blind, but he navigates familiar spaces very well. He is a calm, kind dog who is desperate for a family of his own. The vet in Azerbaijan attempted to neuter him twice, but he is very sensitive to anesthesia, and the vet did not proceed with surgery. Since he is generally a mellow and less active fellow and does not respond to females, there will be no problems with him. We are not taking him for neutering after the last time; we are afraid that he might be left on the table due to his sensitivity."
Pola gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is very well socialized. That said, after spending so much of his life sharing attention, we think he may be happiest as an only dog or with just one canine companion, where he can finally soak up all the love and affection he's been missing.
He has also been tested with cats, children, and for food aggression, passing all evaluations successfully. Because of his blindness, we believe a home with older, respectful children would be the best fit!
Pola is 4.5 years old, is vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life.
