Chido

Chido is a charming boy who has come a long way from the streets outside of Houston to a snuggly bed inside your home. Despite his difficult past, Chido continues to have faith in people and other animals. His love for cats alone speaks volumes about his gentle nature, and he makes friends easily with both animals and people.

Chido enjoys short walks, playing with toys, and sleeping. He is gentle with children and cats. He is also good with most dogs, though he is dog selective. As long as other dogs do not try to make him submit or jump on him, they will get along fine. Chido is frightened by loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks, and will need comforting during these times. With a reassuring presence, he calms down quickly.

Ideal Home

Chido deserves a patient household where someone works from home or is retired to provide him with companionship, as he suffers from separation anxiety. He is an inside companion, not an outside dog.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is on slow-kill medication (Heartgard), which is a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor the heartworms. Chido also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which can make it difficult for him to get around initially. This has only occurred twice since he has been in foster care and resolves with a hip massage and rest. X-rays showed inflammation but no fractures. Aside from the heartworm diagnosis, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained.

Chido is located in Texas. Transport is available. There is a $300 adoption fee and a $250 transport fee.
