A foster-to-adopt option is available for me, giving us the chance to get to know each other before making it official!
Zela is a sweet, sensitive girl with a big personality and very unique needs as she continues to age. She is deaf and is also showing signs consistent with dementia. This means she may become confused at times, especially in the mornings, and can feel scared or unsettled until she fully wakes up. During these moments, she benefits from calm reassurance and gentle affection. Once awake, she typically settles in and does well. In the evenings, Zela can become more restless, often pacing or having bursts of energy that may include playful zoomies. She can also be mouthy during these times, which is not aggression but rather part of her excitement. Zela does not always have strong self-preservation awareness and may try to climb or jump in unsafe ways. Because of this, she requires a secure home environment and careful supervision to keep her safe. She can also be stubborn at times, especially around transitions like bedtime or getting ready for outings, and does best when allowed to move at her own pace. Zela is a very special senior who forms strong bonds with her person and enjoys calm companionship. Zela currently weighs about 22lbs., is approximately 13 years old, and her adoption fee is $185.
Ideal Home
