Bear is a 10-month-old, 53-pound Labrador Retriever mix who is bursting with love, personality, and youthful energy! This handsome boy is incredibly sweet and friendly, and he gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children. Bear truly enjoys being around everyone and is happiest when he has company, whether that's his human family or canine companions. He loves to run, play, and burn off energy, so his future family should be prepared to provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Bear is house-trained but is not yet crate trained.
Ideal Home
Bear would thrive in an active home with another playful dog or with access to doggy daycare to help keep him happy and engaged. A fully and adequately fenced yard is a must, and electric or underground fences are not accepted.
Ongoing Health
Bear is fully vetted, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention.
Training & Support
Bear has food-related resource guarding due to his past experiences of going hungry. While he is comfortable and relaxed with his trusted caregiver, he can become protective of his food around other dogs and must be fed separately. This behavior is limited to feeding situations. His adopters should be committed to managing feeding time appropriately and continuing positive reinforcement training to help him build confidence and trust. His current foster parents, vets, and behaviorists have assessed him, and videos are available to observe his manners.
