Gina is an 8-month-old, 56lb spayed female Belgian Malinois mix with a heart full of love and a past that she's ready to leave behind. She was found as a tiny puppy, abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy road, but a wonderful foster family has given her a second chance at finding a forever home. Gina is a playful pup who adores her smaller (under 15 lbs) and larger (over 75 lbs) dog foster siblings, especially when a game of tug-of-war is involved. While she can be a bit hesitant around unfamiliar, larger dogs due to a past negative experience, she warms up with slow introductions. She's a bundle of energy who loves her toys and is known to collect them all in her bed. Gina is also learning to play fetch and can entertain herself with her favorite playthings.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with a family who can provide plenty of daily play and exercise. She would do best with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) as she can be jumpy when excited and is still learning her size. Due to her past encounters with cats, a cat-free home is recommended. She would likely do well with a couple, someone living alone, or a family, but would benefit from having another dog in the home to keep her company and help her expend her puppy energy.
Ongoing Health
Gina is up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed. She is currently in her "puppy velociraptor stage" and will need guidance on appropriate chew toys.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and doing well with house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks nicely on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She prefers to enjoy her treats alone. Adopters should be prepared to provide regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment to help her grow into a well-mannered adult.
