Sentry is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He is being fostered in Houston, Texas. A photo of his mom, Wanda, is included in the profile for reference; she weighs approximately 55 pounds. Sentry was rescued with his mother and siblings from a rural area known for animal abandonment. He is a happy and affectionate puppy who loves to cuddle, play with his siblings, and go for walks. Sentry is also very social, enjoying the company of people and other dogs. He is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. He has been around children and has done well, and he has not been tested with cats. Sentry is eager to learn and is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Sentry. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization. Because Sentry is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help Sentry thrive. Continued socialization is important, including safe, positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs. Regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction will benefit him as he grows into adulthood.
