Roscoe is a handsome, neutered male dog who is approximately 4.5 years old and weighs about 80 lbs. He has a low to moderate energy level and is happy to match your pace, whether that's going on an adventure or snuggling on the couch. Roscoe was rescued in July 2023 and is a truly lovable companion. Despite being born with partial vision (blind in one eye), he doesn't let it slow him down one bit and is excellent at fetching! He's also not interested in food or destructive chewing, so much so that his foster mom leaves his food bag out, and he's never tried to get into it. Because of his non-destructive nature, he's allowed to free-roam when home alone and is not yet kennel trained, though he's sure to learn with positive reinforcement. Roscoe lives to please and is eager to learn new commands for praise and ear scratches.
Ideal Home
Roscoe is not suitable for a home with cats or small dogs due to his prey drive, which can be easily triggered by his impaired eyesight. While he has been around children with ease, he would be best suited for a home without children, as he prefers a gentle touch and a peaceful environment. He can be selective with larger dogs but makes friends with slow, controlled introductions. He would thrive with a large, confident female dog who enjoys some roughhouse play and can show him the ropes, or he would be perfectly content as the only dog, receiving all the attention and cuddles.
Ongoing Health
Roscoe was born with partial vision, being blind in one eye.
Training & Support
Roscoe has worked hard on leash reactivity and impulse control, even learning to "leave it" when presented with backyard critters. However, his prey drive can still be triggered due to his eyesight. He is not yet kennel trained but would likely learn with positive reinforcement.
