Oscar is a sweet, approximately 1-year-old, 32 lb male Labrador mix with a big heart and a joyful spirit. He's incredibly social and builds trust quickly with everyone he meets, including children, men, and women. Oscar loves being around people and enjoys playing with other dogs, making him an easy companion to fall in love with. He does have a slight neurological tic from distemper, noticeable when he's resting, but it doesn't affect his happy-go-lucky nature or loving personality.
Ideal Home
Oscar would thrive in an active home with a fenced backyard where he can enjoy outdoor activities. He's looking for a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is a plus, or a willingness to hire a trainer for this intelligent dog. A high level of patience and tolerance for a rescued puppy is essential.
Ongoing Health
Oscar has a mild neurological tic due to distemper, which is cosmetic and does not impact his overall health or happiness. He has received a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter, multiple vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), deworming, microchipping, negative heartworm and 4DX tests, and is on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Nexgard Spectra). He also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Oscar is not house-trained, which is common for many rescued pets due to the challenges of providing individual training in a foster environment. He will require patience and consistency to learn house-training and other basic commands. His adopters should be prepared for an adjustment period, understanding that rescued dogs may have fears or anxieties from past experiences. Building trust and providing a safe, loving environment with a clear routine will be key to his success.

Transportation
Oscar is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on scheduled transport trips. Door-to-door delivery is available for a one-time transport fee of $400 USD. These scheduled trips occur 3-4 times a year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. A partnered transport company will escort pets across the border into Texas for US adoptions. You will receive real-time updates throughout the journey via a private Facebook Messenger group.
