Bailey-Sue is a 4-year-old, 57lb spayed female pittie mix who is playful, affectionate, and brave. She came to us from the Houston shelter after surviving physical abuse. Though it took months for her to trust again, her resilience and gentle spirit now shine through. She needs a patient, loving home that will allow her to open up at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she is pure love and a devoted, gentle, and loving companion.
Ideal Home
Bailey adores kids and currently lives with children ranging from 3 to 17 years old. She loves to play with other dogs but is socially selective, doing best with dogs around 30-80 lbs. A calm male dog who can match her energy and help her feel confident would be ideal. Slow introductions are key to her success. Because of her past, she needs a home that understands she may take time to feel safe and confident and may bark or seem unsure around new people or dogs. Her reactions are rooted in fear, not aggression.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Bailey is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping through the night. She has no history of food or toy guarding. She walks nicely on leash once she's had a chance to burn off energy, but continued leash work will help her when she's initially excited. She can be cautious around strangers but warms up quickly.
