Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix who weighs about 55 pounds. She's a gentle, easygoing sweetheart ready to bring calm, love, and quiet joy into your home. Mavis was found at an elementary school and, after months of effort from dedicated people, she's now thriving in a foster home in Houston, Texas, and is ready for her forever family.
Ideal Home
Mavis has a low-to-moderate energy level and a calm demeanor, making her happy to go for walks up to 3 miles and then relax by your side. She absolutely loves other dogs and thrives in social environments, getting along beautifully with dogs of all sizes in her foster home. She walks politely on leash and is easily redirected. A calm, predictable environment will help her feel her best, as she can startle if approached suddenly from behind and politely avoids sewer grates. Mavis has done wonderfully with children, including an 8-year-old, due to her gentle, quiet, and affectionate nature. However, a cat-free home would likely be the best fit for her.
Ongoing Health
Mavis is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Mavis is fully house-trained, does well in a crate, and has great manners when left alone. She is not destructive and coexists peacefully with other dogs. She doesn't show food aggression but enjoys treats. Mavis is smart, knows how to sit, and is eager to learn more. She's not overly interested in toys but loves catching treats.
