Chido

Charming Chido is a handsome boy who's come a long way from the streets outside of Houston to a snuggly bed inside your home! Despite his past, Chido continues to put his faith in people and other animals, and his love for cats alone speaks volumes about his gentle nature. He makes friends easily with both animals and people.

Chido loves short walks, playing with toys, and sleeping – he sleeps a lot! He's gentle with children and cats. He is dog selective, but as long as other dogs aren’t trying to make him submit or jumping all over him, they will get along just fine. Loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks do frighten this sweet boy, and he will need comforting during these times. As long as he knows you're by his side, he quickly calms down.

Ideal Home

Chido deserves a patient household. Someone that either works from home or is retired would be ideal for this relaxed companion. He suffers from separation anxiety, so having a calm presence to hang with would be perfect. Chido is an inside companion, not an outside dog.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is on slow-kill medication (Heartguard), which is a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor the heartworms. Chido also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which makes it hard for him to get around initially. This has only occurred twice since he's been in foster care and hasn't happened in recent months. When it occurs, a quick hip massage and rest are encouraged. X-rays showed inflammation, but nothing was broken. Aside from the heartworm diagnosis, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. He does suffer from separation anxiety and will need support in this area.
