Sudder is an 11-year-old Shiba Inu mix with a look you won't forget – one ear up, one ear down, a wagging tail, and soulful eyes that lock right onto yours. He's affectionate, playful, and happiest with life's simple joys: cuddles on the sofa, gentle scratches, and slow walks where he can take his time sniffing flowers, bushes, and every cedar tree along the way. Sudder spent 9 years with his original family and the last 2 with a loving elderly couple. Like many Shibas, he bonds closely with one "favorite" person, but he warms up to others who offer patience, treats, and affection. He's adapted well from farm life to a busy, multi-pet community and is now comfortable with everyday activity. He's even made friends with many dogs and cats, though he may still bark when he wants to say hello but can't. Despite everything, Sudder still has playful bursts of energy and an adorable habit of chewing and stuffing his soft bed when he's self-soothing. He does not have a strong prey drive or the typical "Shiba scream," tolerates grooming well, and sheds seasonally. His family is heartbroken to rehome him due to health limitations and hopes to find a loving home where he'll be deeply cared for and understood. Sudder isn't perfect – but he's funny, loyal, and full of personality, and he's looking for someone patient with a good sense of humor to love him back.
Ideal Home
Sudder would do best in a home with a fenced yard, as leash walking can be frustrating for him. He can be reactive to some dogs on walks (barking/pulling), so an experienced dog owner is ideal.
Ongoing Health
Sudder recently had CCL surgery (similar to an ACL tear) and is recovering well, but needs limited activity through August. He may also need help getting in and out of a car. He weighs 31 lbs.
Training & Support
Sudder can be reactive to some dogs on walks (barking/pulling), so an experienced dog owner is ideal. He has an adorable habit of chewing and stuffing his soft bed when he's self-soothing.
