Bessie is a sweet 3-year-old, 55-pound spayed Pit Bull mix with a heart of gold. She found herself in a tough situation, heavily pregnant and in a high-kill shelter, but thankfully, she was given a second chance. Her puppies are all grown and have found their forever homes, and now it's Bessie's turn to find her perfect match. Despite her size, Bessie is a gentle soul who loves nothing more than to snuggle up with her favorite people on the couch for a movie. She has an abundance of affection to give and is eager to be your loyal best friend. During her spay surgery, it was discovered that Bessie had undergone double FHO hip surgery in the past. While we don't know the full story behind it, it's clear she's a survivor who doesn't let past challenges slow her down. Bessie gets along well with submissive dogs and truly adores her human companions. Because she's an enthusiastic jumper, she'll need to be leashed or secured on a tie-out when enjoying time outdoors. After all she's been through and her dedication to raising her puppies, Bessie is ready for a family that will provide her with the love, comfort, and security she so deserves.
Ideal Home
Bessie would thrive in a home where she can be close to her people, enjoying cozy movie nights and lots of cuddles. She prefers the company of submissive dogs. Due to her ability to clear fences, she will need to be leashed or on a secure tie-out when outside.
Ongoing Health
Bessie has a history of double FHO hip surgery. While this does not seem to slow her down, it's something to be aware of for her ongoing care.
Training & Support
Bessie is a loving companion who enjoys being with her people. She's great with kids and enjoys the company of other dogs, provided they are submissive. Owners should be aware of her fencing abilities and ensure she is safely leashed or tied out when outdoors.
