Merle Dawson is a handsome 5-year-old pittie mix with a stunning merle coat, floppy ears, and captivating heterochromatic eyes. He's a bundle of joyous energy, convinced everyone is his best friend. Merle’s personality is as bright as his coat, and his affection is instant and genuine. He leans into cuddles, loves being included in everything, and is sure to steal your heart.
Ideal Home
Merle would thrive in a home with a semi-active family who enjoys including their dog in daily activities, whether it's running errands or simply relaxing together. He would do best in a home with a large fenced-in backyard rather than an apartment, providing him space to play and sunbathe. While he enjoys the company of easygoing female dogs, Merle is happiest and most relaxed as the sole canine companion, allowing him to be the center of attention.
Ongoing Health
Merle is a rescue dog, and while his age and breed are estimated, it cannot be guaranteed. He is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP vaccinations with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injection. He has also been tested for heartworm.
Training & Support
Merle is treat-motivated and eager to please, making him a joy to train. He walks well on a leash with minimal pulling, usually out of excitement to greet friends or go for a walk. He is currently working on basic commands like "sit" and would benefit from continued training as a bonding experience. Merle enjoys puzzle toys, licky mats, and enrichment games, but his favorite activity is simply being near his people. He handles household hustle and bustle well and does not get overwhelmed.

Merle is currently in Texas and can be transported nationwide via our rescue-run, USDA-certified transport system. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (with pickup options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters).
