At a glance
A little about them
Zinny is a sweet, goofy, social dog who loves people, other dogs, rope toys, balls, zoomies, and curling up by your feet. He may need time to feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings, but he becomes affectionate and loving once trust is established. Zinny is currently in Mexico and is expected to travel to the Niagara Region when an appropriate adopter or local foster is found.
Ideal Home
Zinny has positive interactions with men, women, children, and other dogs. Older children are recommended because his experience with children has been limited. A confident canine companion would likely help him adjust, although he may also do well independently as his confidence with people grows. A yard is preferred, but he can live in an apartment with regular exercise and enrichment. Cats are unknown.
Because food has historically been competitive in his environment, separate and structured feeding is recommended during his transition. Zinny may defend his food from another dog attempting to take it, though he does not show food aggression toward people. Extra escape precautions will be important after travel and while he adjusts to his new home.
Ongoing Health
Zinny was treated for ehrlichia and anaplasmosis. He is neutered and vaccinated. He did well during grooming and a veterinary examination.
Training & Support
Zinny walks on leash, rides calmly in the car, and is not leash reactive. His leash confidence may need continued positive support in unfamiliar environments. He is not crate trained, and house training will be required in a home environment. He occasionally joins other dogs when they bark. Adoptions include 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org.
