Meet Phoenix! This brave Mexi-mix has lived through more than most dogs ever will, and somehow, he is still one of the happiest boys you will meet. Phoenix was found in Ixtapa with severe burns along his back and side and an injured paw. After months of care, love, and healing, he transformed into a strong, joyful dog who adores toys, attention, and going on adventures.
In 2024, Phoenix was diagnosed with subcutaneous lymphoma. While considered terminal, he has not had any new tumors since August and continues to live life with full enthusiasm. You would never guess he has cancer; he is active, healthy, and full of heart.
Ideal Home
Phoenix is a medium-energy adventure buddy who walks beautifully on leash. He loves toys, people, and exploring. He is good with dogs but prefers non-alpha males. Phoenix deserves to spend his days in a loving home, not a shelter. However long he has, months or years, he should spend it with someone who sees the incredible dog he is.
Ongoing Health

Application Details:
- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- The adoption fee for Phoenix is the cost of the flight transport crate fee only; all other fees are waived. This cost is usually $200 to $300 depending on the location and airline.
Transporation
Phoenix is located in Puerto Vallarta. Approved adopters are matched with flight companions (flight angels) traveling from Puerto Vallarta. You will meet them at the airport to welcome your new pup home. It can be challenging to secure Canadian flight angels during May and June, so dogs may need to fly into the US and be picked up at Peace Arch Park at the border if a Canadian flight angel is unavailable. We have successfully completed many adoptions over the summer with volunteers helping to bring dogs to their adopters at the border. This remains a great option to keep adoptions moving forward.
