Bertie

Bertie is the sweetest senior boy in the world and is looking for a quiet home to spend the rest of his days with a family who loves him. He came to our rescue after being surrendered to a shelter on the reservation because his owner was elderly and couldn't care for him anymore. His back nails were so long they curled underneath his paws and were imbedded in the pads of his feet! He was also badly in need of a dental and had abscessed teeth. But amidst all of that, he was still loving and loyal to whoever would take care of him. After his arrival here, we have provided vet care for him to trim his nails, do bloodwork, and give him the dental he needed. Our vet estimated him to be around 14 years old, and he weighs just under 13 lbs. He has some arthritis in his hind end and legs, but other than that, he is in great shape for his age.

Ideal Home

Bertie wants nothing more than a soft, cozy bed to sleep on the floor next to his person. He can't jump onto furniture or on and off the bed, but he does enjoy being lifted up to sleep with his foster mom. A home where he can be safely supervised when he is outside, or a small, secure yard would be ideal, as he does like to wander.

Ongoing Health

Bertie has some arthritis in his hind end and legs. He has received vet care for his nails and abscessed teeth, and has been updated with vaccinations.

Training & Support

Bertie is house-trained but needs to be let out frequently and watched when he is outside. He is fine around other dogs and cats, but will bark if they get right in his face. He loves people of all ages.
