Flash, flash, 100 yard Dash! Meet Dash, the 8 year old chocolate lab. Despite his senior status, Dash still has pep in his step! In his previous home he had a large outdoor area where he loved to run and play fetch. He lived mostly outside there, but we recommend keeping him mostly inside with the family and give him plenty of outside play time to keep him safe and healthy! He has played well with other dogs in his past home and here at the shelter, but he gets a little overwhelmed with younger dogs who have a lot of energy. Dash has interacted with kids and did well with them. We always recommend doing a meet and greet with young kids and resident dogs in the home before adoption to make sure it’s a good fit! If you are looking for a pal who loves an outdoor adventure, come on over and meet Dash! Dash is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
