Meet Dewey — the 9 month old adventure pup!
Hi! I’m Dewey — about 43 pounds of pure puppy charm and curiosity. I’m still figuring out this big, exciting world, so sometimes I bark at new things. The hair dryer could damage mom’s hair after all. And the printer is a waste of paper and ink. Someone has to alert mom to these things. With training, I’m getting braver every day. I even visit Home Depot and Tractor Supply like a total pro now, and I do great meeting new people — even the tiny humans. I’ll be honest: I do pull on leash. I’m working on it. I’ve also met goats, horses, and had a couple of dog meet-and-greets, so I’m getting pretty worldly for a youngster. I’m crate trained, potty trained, and I sleep through the night like a champ. I know sit, down, wait, and touch. And guess what? I’m learning scent work — and apparently my nose is kind of amazing. My foster mom made this video about me: https://youtube.com/shorts/hgGLqbFRFqk
Ideal Home
Dewey needs a medium fenced yard, ideally in a quieter, rural setting. He would do best with a calm dog or as an only pet. He needs a home that is committed to continued training and managed introductions for visitors. He is good with kids, but will eat their toys, so he will need supervision around them. He also needs a durable bed (K9 Ballistics style) and must be crated when unattended.
Ongoing Health
Dewey is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered.
Training & Support
Dewey is potty trained and crate trained, and sleeps through the night. He knows sit, down, wait, and touch, and is learning scent work. He does pull on leash and can be reactive at the vet around other dogs, but is great with staff. He will need continued training, especially with leash manners and managing his reactions to other dogs in specific situations. He needs slow dog introductions and has a "gentle hand mouthing" as a signal he needs to go potty.
