Chico Diablo is a handsome, lean, and muscular black and tan Doberman with a playful spirit and a heart full of affection to give. He loves to play with balls and enjoys his time outdoors. Chico is incredibly affectionate with his foster family, often seeking out attention and cuddles. He's also a well-behaved boy, already crate trained and sleeps soundly in his crate at night. He's leash-trained and knows his basic commands, responding well to verbal cues. Chico arrived at rescue after experiencing a significant loss, which understandably left him a bit confused. Initially, he was hesitant and would use his teeth to create space when feeling uncomfortable, a behavior we believe stemmed from past mishandling. However, with patience and understanding, Chico has blossomed into a trusting companion. He's sensitive to yelling and not a dominant personality, preferring a calm and consistent environment.
Ideal Home
Chico would thrive in a home with a confident owner who can provide clear boundaries and a safe environment. He enjoys a fenced-in yard for exercise and would be comfortable in a home with another dog, preferably a medium to large female. Due to his sensitivity to having his collar grabbed, we do not recommend a home with small children to ensure everyone's safety and comfort. He is also not a good candidate for dog parks or homes with other male dogs due to his reactivity.
Ongoing Health
Chico is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, has been treated for heartworm, and is on prevention. He has reached a healthy weight, boasts a shiny coat, and is motivated by food.
Training & Support
Chico is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He is responsive to verbal commands. We are working on his collar sensitivity, and he has shown great progress. Owners should be mindful of who is around him, and muzzle training during vet visits with strangers will be beneficial for his comfort.

Transportation
Chico is currently being fostered in Texas. The adoption fee includes transport via van to the PNW, Midwest, or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states through our pet transport partners.
