About Lorelei

Lorelei is a beautiful, independent girl who's still learning that the world and people can be safe and kind. Since coming into foster care last winter, she's been taking things at her own pace and showing us little glimpses of her personality every day. She's most comfortable around other dogs and truly shines at adoption events where she can be part of the pack. Having a confident canine companion in her future home will help her continue to build trust and feel secure. Her favorite place to be is outdoors playing with other dogs, the more the better. She even has a boyfriend next door to her foster home and they meet at the fence and run together. It's the sweetest thing. Lorelei loves all animals, squirrels, deer and the occasional possum. Lorelei is a bit of a free spirit and will need a patient, understanding adopter who's willing to let her come around on her own terms. She's not the kind of dog who will run up for cuddles right away but with time, consistency, and love, she has so much potential to blossom. She is developing a routine at her foster home that seems to suit her. She stares at her foster mom until breakfast is served and then approaches her foster mom with a nose boop to the hand. She will let you know when she wants to go out to play and let the zoomies begin! The good news? She walks beautifully on a leash and really enjoys her outings! Walks are a great way to bond with her and help her build confidence. She also has a playful side and enjoys "chatting" with neighboring dogs (and even airplanes and sirens!) from the yard. Lorelei isn't a "plug-and-play" pup but for the right person, she could be an incredibly rewarding companion. Watching her learn to trust will be a journey full of small, meaningful victories. If you believe in giving shy dogs the time they deserve, Lorelei might just be your girl.

Ideal Home

  • A secure, fenced yard. A doggy door would be an excellent plus!
  • A home committed to safety and patience (no chasing, she needs trust, not pressure!)
  • Another friendly dog to help guide her
  • May do best in a quieter home rather than a busy one, but a calm household with someone home often could be a great fit as long as they understand she'll need time and space to adjust.

Ongoing Health

No specific health conditions or procedures are mentioned in the description.
