About Wanda
Hi y’all!! My name is Wanda, and I’m a 4-year-old possible Plot Hound mix. My name fits me perfectly, especially if you picture a spirited Southern woman – that’s me!
You might remember me from a tough time in June when I was found incredibly sick and skinny in the middle of nowhere on a scorching hot day. Thankfully, I was discovered just in time! I was battling hookworms, whipworms, severe anemia, and heartworms, and I even had burns on my feet. But I’ve made a full recovery and am feeling healthy and strong now!
Now that I'm feeling my best, my true personality has blossomed! My foster mom wants to be completely honest because she loves me so much and wants the perfect home for me. I'm a bit of a free spirit! I think I have some hunting dog in me, so if I spot a squirrel or a cat, I'm off! I absolutely need a home with a very secure, and preferably tall, fence to keep me safely contained. I usually listen well, but if something catches my eye, I can get a little tunnel vision and might not even hear you calling. I also have a tendency to "yell" at interesting critters, so it’s best not to leave me unsupervised outside for extended periods. And watch out, I have a chewing habit – anything left within reach is fair game for a little nibble! Just keep tempting items out of sight, and we'll be golden.
But let's talk about the wonderful parts of me! My giant, floppy ears are incredibly endearing, especially when I tilt my head. I adore cuddling, though I can be a wiggle worm – I like to launch myself into my foster mom's lap with all four paws at once, like I'm practicing for the doggie Olympics! I absolutely LOVE playing with other dogs. I need at least one canine playmate who enjoys wrestling and running around, both inside and outside. When it's time to rest, I curl up into a tiny Wanda ball for a good nap.
My foster mom will be at my adoption event to answer any questions you might have. She wants you to know that she's just sharing these details upfront so you know what to expect, and she truly believes I'm the best!
Ideal Home
A home with a very secure and tall fence is a must due to my prey drive. I also need patient owners who can help redirect my chewing tendencies. I absolutely need at least one other dog to play with.
Ongoing Health
I have fully recovered from hookworms, whipworms, anemia, and heartworms. My adoption fee includes my heartworm treatment and monthly preventative.
Training & Support
I can be prone to chasing small animals, so continued training and secure containment are essential. I also have a chewing habit that requires supervision and redirection.
Application Details:
- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- My adoption fee is $150, which includes my vaccinations, spay, microchip, and heartworm treatment with monthly preventative.
Transportation
I will be at an adoption event on Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM at 8901 Highway 87, Building 119.
