Ricky

Ricky is an approximately 14-year-old, 40-pound Corgi mix who came to us when his previous owner could no longer care for him. He's a loving and loyal companion who is convinced he's the perfect lap-dog size, always ready for ear rubs and leaning into your legs for more affection. He enjoys his daily walks and playtime in a fenced yard, and he's a whiz at car rides, especially when visiting his foster "Grandma." Ricky is also a smart cookie who knows commands like sit, stay, down, off, and pee. He's house-trained, sleeps through the night, and can be left alone for a few hours without issue. Ricky will let you know when he needs to go outside, and he loves to snuggle on the couch after being invited.

Ideal Home

Ricky prefers to be the only pet and the center of attention in his home. He is vocal and will alert you to anything he perceives as unusual.

Ongoing Health

Ricky has made a full recovery after having bladder stones removed. He is currently on potassium citrate tablets twice a day with his meals and a special veterinary diet to prevent future crystals. His last vet check showed him to be crystal-free and doing well.

Training & Support

Ricky is working on his impulse to bark at people and dogs he encounters. He can be redirected with a treat and is learning to greet new people happily. He is more reactive to other dogs on walks and currently uses a Halti with a double lead to help manage these encounters. He is responding well to the word "bed" for settling and knows several other commands.
