Holt is a 5-month-old Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix with a sweet face, a good brain, and the excellent temperament of a puppy who is ready to be someone's very best idea. He is friendly, social, smart, and an all-around excellent young dog. Holt likes people, enjoys other dogs, he is fine with cats, and he is doing a very nice job at the whole puppy thing. He is still a baby, so he will need the usual puppy basics: structure, training, patience, supervision, and a family willing to help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he is clearly capable of becoming.
Ideal Home
Because he is a young, active mix of two intelligent breeds, Holt needs a fenced yard where he can run, play, explore, and burn off his puppy energy safely. He will do best with a family that enjoys a bright, engaged dog and understands that smart puppies are always learning, including the things no one technically meant to teach them. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for the commitment.
Ongoing Health
Holt is a young puppy and is up-to-date on all vaccinations and microchipped.
Training & Support
Holt is still a baby and will need the usual puppy basics: structure, training, patience, supervision, and socialization. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for flexible schedules for potty training, crate training until at least one year old, and socialization. Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Patience is required, and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well-trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
