Essex

Essex is a charming little guy, around 5 years old and weighing about 10 pounds, who is as close to a Cockapoo as you can get based on his DNA! He's a clever pup who can entertain himself for hours with his toys and loves to zoom around the yard. Essex also enjoys a good race with the other dogs, though he can sometimes be a bit bossy and bark at them. He'd likely do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion.

Ideal Home

Essex would be a wonderful companion for someone older. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a tendency to occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He's a precocious and alpha little dog that needs an experienced owner. We do not adopt to anyone with children under the age of 8 years.

Ongoing Health

Essex was rescued in very matted condition and had to be shaved down to the skin. His beautiful coat is now growing back wonderfully! All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza), and are on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas/ticks, and parasites.

Training & Support

Essex is pretty well house-trained, but he does sometimes mark other dogs' beds. As an alpha and precocious dog, he would benefit from an experienced owner who can provide clear guidance and boundaries.

Essex is currently in foster care in Houston, Texas. The adoption fee includes transportation, and he can be transported to Quicksburg, VA.
