478 (2026) Koda

Meet Koda, a 2.5-year-old pup with a gentle and sweet soul, looking for a best friend and a pack to call his own. Koda was brought to us as a stray and initially thought to be 5 months old, but after reviewing prior records, we determined he had been neutered 2.5 years ago and re-aged him accordingly. He was transferred from Operation Kindness in Texas. Koda is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place, and every day he grows a little braver. Watching him build confidence has been incredibly rewarding!

Ideal Home

Koda thrives with other dogs and would do best in a home with at least one confident canine companion. A securely fenced yard is also essential, as this is where he gains confidence and gets his exercise. His ideal adopter is extremely patient, understanding, and willing to let Koda move at his own speed. He may be cautious around men at first, so everyone in the household should be committed to earning his trust through gentle, consistent care. He does best with predictable routines and consistency. Koda is not the dog for you if you are looking for a pet that will immediately cuddle on the couch, act like an everyday dog, or head out for long walks.

Ongoing Health

Koda is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Koda is still struggling with leashing and is most successful when free-roaming his fenced yard. Leash training is a work in progress, and pushing him too quickly can make him more anxious. Koda is fully potty trained and communicates well once you learn his signals. He loves treats, stuffed toys, Benebones, antlers, and frozen treats. He also enjoys early mornings and is currently an early riser.
