Athena, a 1-year-old Terrier mix, is a bundle of playful energy and affection! She weighs around 35 pounds and was found abandoned with her siblings in Texas. Athena is a smart and curious pup who loves to play and interact with others. She's making great progress with her training, already knowing "sit," "down," "drop it," and "come." While she's generally sweet and eager to please, she's still very much a young dog who is working through some typical puppy behaviors like chewing. She thrives on social interaction and would likely enjoy having a canine companion.
Ideal Home
Athena would do best in an active home that can provide plenty of daily exercise, mental enrichment, and appropriate chew toys. A family committed to continuing her training and socialization, while also embracing her fun-loving personality, will help her mature into a wonderful companion. A home without cats may be ideal due to her strong play drive, though a cat-savvy home with slow introductions might work.

Athena is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is currently healthy.
Training & Support
Athena is eager to learn and is continuing to make progress with positive reinforcement training. She is working on learning social boundaries with other dogs, especially recognizing when play is finished. Continued consistency, patience, and structure will help her mature beautifully.

- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- Once you complete the initial screen, you will be connected with the placement team for a video chat.
- Transports run every few weeks, and approved dogs will be on the next available transport. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
- We are a volunteer-run rescue dedicated to these dogs. If you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
- If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please ensure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
- The process includes an application, a phone interview, a video call with the foster home, virtual home visit, and personal and vet reference checks.
Transporation
Athena is currently in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas. Transport to an approved adopter is included in the adoption donation.
