Meet Doodle! Doodle is a 10-year-old mini-Australian shepherd with a super smart, funny, and loving personality. He's a pro at obedience and knows all his commands. He's also fully potty-trained and crate-trained, and absolutely adores getting attention from his person! Doodle has a strong herding instinct and is protective of his home, which makes him a great guard dog. He's been living happily with other dogs and cats in his foster home, and has learned to respect their boundaries. He thrives when he knows the rules and what's expected of him. To keep his bright mind engaged, his foster mom uses puzzle toys, interactive toys, and lick mats.
Ideal Home
Doodle needs an active owner who can keep up with his high energy needs – a simple walk won't cut it! He'd love someone to run or hike with him and take him on adventures. He'd also excel in agility or herding activities. Doodle is looking for a quiet home without children. He can be reactive towards larger dogs, so a home without a resident dog over 20 lbs is preferred. He does well with smaller dogs and cats, though he does enjoy herding them when excited. He can also be reactive to visitors, so introductions to new people should be done slowly and with care, as he tends to favor women over men. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
Ongoing Health
Doodle was recently diagnosed with Addison's Disease. It's well-managed with a daily pill and monthly injections, and he's doing very well despite his condition. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines.
Training & Support
Doodle is a highly intelligent dog who thrives on structure and clear expectations. An owner experienced with herding breeds will be best equipped to handle his energy and protective instincts.
