About Atlas Moose the Floppy Eared Goober
Atlas Moose is the kind of puppy that makes you laugh within the first five minutes of meeting him. Maybe it's the giant floppy ears. Maybe it's the tail that's practically as long as the rest of him. Maybe it's the fact that he can somehow detect a treat from what feels like three zip codes away. Whatever it is, this boy has personality for days. He's goofy, happy, affectionate, and still very much figuring out how to navigate life with those oversized puppy feet attached to him.
Atlas Moose is approximately 5 months old, currently weighs around 42 lbs, and we believe he may be a German Shepherd/Bloodhound mix. With rescue, it's always a mystery and we can never guarantee breed or age. That said, between those giant ears, his impressive nose, and the way he can sniff out food, we'd be willing to bet there's some hound mixed in there somewhere. Atlas is still growing and has plenty of loose skin and big puppy feet left to fill out. We don't know exactly how big he'll end up, but we'd be very surprised if this boy stays small. He's essentially built like a baby moose LOL.
Atlas is exactly what you would hope for in a young puppy. He's sweet, loving, curious, playful, and always ready to have a good time. One minute he's bouncing around playing with a toy and the next he's happily soaking up affection from his people. He has a wonderfully happy-go-lucky personality and approaches life with the enthusiasm that only a puppy can have.
One of our favorite things about Atlas is that he's both a toy lover and a foodie. This boy loves treats and gets genuinely excited when snacks are involved. The good news is that his food motivation will make him a blast to continue training. He's eager to learn and already showing lots of potential. He also loves toys, especially balls. In fact, Atlas already knows how to play fetch and will happily bring the ball back to you again and again. Not every puppy figures that game out so quickly, but Atlas seems to have the concept mastered.
Ideal Home
Atlas is going to need a family committed to training, socialization, and all the work that comes with raising a large breed puppy. We think he'd do best in a home with a backyard where he has room to run, play fetch, stretch those long legs, and burn off energy. He would probably love having a canine playmate to wrestle with, chase around the yard, and burn off some of that puppy enthusiasm.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Atlas is working on crate training and is doing great learning where the appropriate potty places are. Like any puppy his age, he'll need continued consistency, routine, and structure as he grows. He's still very much a baby and is learning new things every day. The family that adopts him should be prepared to continue helping him learn how to be the best dog he can be.
