APRICOT is a delightful puppy hailing from the Northern community of Kasabonica. She journeyed south with her siblings, Clementine, Papaya, and Tangerine, in search of her forever home. Apricot has received two sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, and "Interceptor Plus" dewormer, and has been vet-checked and deemed healthy. While her exact breed mix is an educated guess due to her origins in a community with many stray dogs, she's sure to be a wonderful companion. This "Orange" litter is known for being exceptionally chill, relaxed, and quiet. Apricot, in particular, loves to socialize with people, greeting them with an excited wag of her tail. She enjoys being held and snuggled, and her happy and loving nature makes her ready to thrive in her new home.
Apricot is a confident "boss lady" who likes to keep things in order, but she's also an adventurous and curious puppy who enjoys playing with her siblings. She's a fan of chasing and chewing on balls, especially the spiky kind. She also loves spending time outdoors, soaking up the sun or relaxing in a large water bowl – she even enjoys a good soak herself!
Apricot is fully crate trained and sleeps soundly in her crate overnight and during naps. She gets very excited for walks and rarely has accidents indoors, though she does need to be taken out regularly for bathroom breaks. She is currently in a chewing phase due to teething and will need plenty of chew toys and bones to keep her busy. Apricot is beginning to learn basic commands like "sit" and "gentle" for treats.
Ideal Home
Apricot would thrive in an active home with individuals or families who love the outdoors and are looking for a companion for hikes, walks, and adventures. She enjoys car rides and settles quietly in her crate. She gets along well with other dogs and would do well in a home with a canine friend, or as an only dog as long as she's not left alone for extended periods. While she coexists with cats in her foster home, introductions should be slow and monitored, similar to introducing her to a new dog. A securely fenced-in yard is essential for her to play safely. Children should be aged 6 years and up, and be gentle, loving, and caring towards animals.
Ongoing Health
Apricot has been vet-checked and is deemed healthy. Her spay surgery is included in her adoption fee and must be completed by the time she is 6 months old, either at our vet's office or the Barrie SPCA. You have the option to use your own vet, and we will reimburse you the cost we would have incurred. A copy of the invoice and an updated photo will be required for reimbursement.
Training & Support
Apricot requires a commitment to ongoing training and patience. Adopters must enroll her in puppy training/obedience classes to help her become a well-behaved companion. Due to teething, she is in a chewing stage and needs appropriate chew toys and bones. She is learning to "sit" and "gentle" but is not yet signaling when she needs to go outside.
