Huey is a handsome, athletic, and personable 2-year-old dog who weighs around 56 lbs. We suspect he's a Labrador mix, but as with all rescues, this can't be guaranteed. Huey has incredibly expressive ears and is a mid-size dog with legs made for adventure and plenty of love to share. He's been living in a foster home while he waits for his forever family, which has allowed him to master many important life skills. This means you'll get a dog who is already home-life ready! Huey is smart, motivated, and responds well to confident leadership. He thrives with boundaries and enjoys following his people around like a quiet shadow. He is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. Huey also rides well in the car and enjoys a good breeze.
Ideal Home
Huey would thrive in a home with a yard where he can run and play freely. Apartment living is not for him, as he prefers not to have frequent leash walks in busy areas. While Huey has enjoyed living with children and other dogs in the past, he is looking for a home that is calm and structured, and long-term living with children is not the right fit for him. A home with another dog is possible if meal times are managed carefully, or a one-dog household would also eliminate any potential tension over food.
Ongoing Health
Huey is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, and flea/heartworm prevention. He has also been microchipped with free lifetime registration.
Training & Support
Huey is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. He responds well to confident leadership and thrives with clear boundaries. He does show resource guarding tendencies around food, which is easily managed by feeding him in his crate or a separate area.
