My name is Monroe! I'm an 80-pound sweetheart from Alabama with a soft heart and an even softer spot for snuggles. My favorite things are curling up on the couch, snuggling in bed, belly scratches, car rides, ground chicken, and hearing that I'm a "good boy." I love other dogs and more than anything, I love simply being with my people. I'm a calm, low-key guy who would much rather spend the day snoozing nearby or relaxing on the couch. I'm fully house-trained and sleep nicely in my crate at night as long as I can see my humans. I do much better left out when you're away instead of being crated; just give me a comfy couch and I'll happily nap the day away. I can be shy and fearful with strangers, especially men, and I do best with slow introductions and patient people. Once I feel secure, my sweet personality shines through beautifully. All I really want is kindness, patience, a cozy place to nap, and someone to love. If you're willing to go slow with me at first, I promise I'll give you the most loyal heart in return.

Ongoing Health
Monroe was heartworm positive and has completed his treatment. He received a preliminary negative result on a microfilaria test but is awaiting a negative test result to a heartworm test 9 months after treatment. He no longer needs to be on exercise restrictions, but will need continued use of monthly heartworm prevention. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. All Warrior Dogs receive age-appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and are spayed/neutered if over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
Training & Support
Monroe is fully house-trained and well-behaved in the home. He sleeps nicely in his crate at night but prefers to be left out when you're away. He can be shy and fearful with strangers, especially men, so slow introductions and patience are key.
